Almost everyday, there if something on Netflix that will quickly take over as top dog with its popularity. This week, it’s a battle between Zack Snyder’s new space opera original and a feel-good romantic comedy.

Anyone But You debuts at No. 2 globally and No. 1 in the U.S.

This week, the streaming service announced that Anyone But You – the recent hit romantic comedy featuring Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell – has debuted at No. 2 on Netflix’s Global Top 10. Movie Charts during the week of April 22-28, gaining 10.6 million views which translated to 18.3 million hours viewed.

The film stars Sweeney and Powell as Ben and Bea, two people whose immediate connection on a whirlwind first date quickly turns bitter. Hopefully the two never have to see each other again… that is, until they realise they are headed toward the same wedding of their friends and relatives in Sydney, Australia. Determined to keep everything steady and stir jealousy in exes, Ben and Bea agree to put aside their hostility and pose as a happy couple. Only one problem: it may bring them closer than they expected.

Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver stays at No. 1 its second week globally.

While the Shakespearean rom-com went to No. 1 on the Top 10. Movie Charts in the U.S., the top spot of Netflix’s Global Top 10 Movie Chart was usurped by Zack Snyder’s epic Netflix original film Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver, in its second consecutive week. This was viewed 18.8 million times, itself equating toward 38.8 million viewing hours.

Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver is now available on Netflix, with Anyone But You available in the U.S. and select Asian countries (Bangladesh, India, Pakistan).

Netflix’s Other Top 5 Globally

Woody Woodpecker Goes to Camp takes No. 4 globally.

Other places within the worldwide streaming chart were filled by live-action/CGI-animated family flick Woody Woodpecker Goes to Camp which came at No. 3 (9.2 million views/15.3 million viewing hours), while Snyder’s first instalment to his new epic, Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire took No. 4 (6 million views/13.7 million viewing hours).

What Jennifer Did fills spot No. 5 globally.

Concluding the lucky few of the Top 5 on the Netflix’s global scale? The true-crime documentary What Jennifer Did, bringing in 5.2 million views and translating to 7.5 million viewing hours following its release three weeks ago. During this period, it debuted the top spot at No. 1 in its week of April 8-14.

Anyone But You Is Sydney Sweeney’s Biggest Career Hit

Anyone But You is the latest success to headline Sydney Sweeney, who has gained her recognition over the last few years in streaming series such as Euphoria and The White Lotus. Prior to that, she appeared in some minor roles in shows like Pretty Little Liars and Quentin Tarantino’s 2019 film industry period piece Once Upon a Time… In Hollywood.

During Anyone But You‘s initial release, it gained a box office tally of $216 million against its $25 million budget, combined both internationally and domestically. While audiences praised the film, critics were less welcoming and gave it a 55% Rotten Tomatoes score against its 87% audience rating. Since then, Sweeney garnered more acclaim for starring in the psychological horror indie film Immaculate, but also co-starred in Sony’s superhero blunder Madame Web, which received overwhelmingly negative reception and couldn’t achieve a box office record.
